Mr. Gu, a Chinese national, developed SCI's China business from scratch. While vice president of SCI, Mr. Gu also retains his title of Deputy Director of the Tianjin Science and Technology Exchange Center - the Tianjin branch of a nationwide network of such organizations. He has built SCI's alliances in Tianjin, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Weihai, Xi'an, Suzhou, Wuxi, Qingdao and other key areas of China.

Mr. Gu has directed market research, strategic partnering and product positioning assignments for over 50 clients, including Kodak, Alcatel (Radio Frequency Systems), Eaton Electric, Teleflex, Sanyo, Unisys, Lonza, The PQ Corporation, Penn Crusher, Waukesha Bearings, Orcon, Delstar, K-tron, Gastite, Titeflex Industry, CFC, M&C Specialties, Binney & Smith, Ellwood and numerous middle market companies. He has also set up and manages SCI's direct sales and sourcing representation program, where SCI represents companies in such diverse areas as the power industry, machine and auto parts, electronics, engine, packaging, and pump products. Mr. Gu has advised clients about establishing sales operations, joint ventures and wholly owned companies in China, and has negotiated equity stakes and contracts on their behalf.

Prior to his work with SCI, while still residing in China, Mr. Gu represented Chinese interests in Sino-foreign deals, so he has spent considerable time on both sides of the negotiating table. He is therefore sensitive to key business and cultural issues and the most efficient ways to get things done in Asian markets. Mr. Gu is a highly skilled negotiator with a deep understanding of both Asia and America. He is a frequent speaker and contributor to Chinese periodicals. For example, he has had many articles published in China's top newspaper People's Daily as well as other journals including Tianjin Daily.
